On 21st May, 1915, the 3rd Royal Fusiliers battalion of 85 Brigade, 28th Division, left their billets near Poperinghe and moved into trenches at Ypres running from the railway to Bellewaarde Lake. The battalion diary recorded that on 22nd May there was some shelling and rifle fire and that three men were killed and another six wounded. Arthur Sheldrick died from wounds on the following day and it is likely that he was one of those wounded. |
